Eye Tests with Pabari
Visiting your opticians and having your eyes tested is as important as visiting your doctor or dentist, so when you visit Pabari opticians we make sure it’s a relaxing experience.
A professional eye test at Pabari opticians start from £38, but certain groups of people, like children and over 60s, are eligible for free NHS funded eye checks.
During your eye test our expert optometrists will check your vision and also the health of your eyes. By doing this it is possible to detect other health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Usually eye tests are recommended every two years, but certain people may need tests more regularly. Our optometrists will be able to advise you on your individual needs.
I’ve been going to the team at Pabari for more than 10 years and really wouldn’t go anywhere else again. Nothing is too much trouble and the range of glasses is fantastic.
NHS Eye Tests
As an NHS patient, you can book an appointment and have your eyes tested by one of our expert optometrists at any one of our practices. When you visit one of our practices for your NHS eye exam your sight will be tested as well as your eye health. Our NHS eye test covers:
- Check the health of your eyes.
- Find any eye problems before they get more serious.
- Look for indicators of other health problems.
Available at our Moseley practice
People with diabetes are at risk of an eye disease linked to diabetes known as diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy can lead to changes to the back of the eye causing partial or severe loss of vision.
Digital Diabetic Retinopathy Eye Screening
There is now a national programme for diabetic retinopathy eye screening which our Moseley practice is part of. The screening is carried out by taking digital photographs of the back of the eyes. The photographs are reviewed by trained screening staff and, where required, seen for a second opinion by a hospital doctor.
You are then recommended either for yearly eye screening or another appointment is arranged to decide on treatment
Glaucoma Screening is carried out as a part of your professional eye examination. It helps us to make certain you can see well, your eyes work properly together and are healthy and free of disease. This test involves:
- Measurement of the intra-ocular pressures.
- Examination of the optic disc.
- Visual field assessment.
Early detection and treatment is essential to prevent or delay the progression of more serious visual problems. As most early forms of glaucoma are without symptoms regular screening, especially with increase in age, is essential to maintain healthy eyes.
